Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias met on Wednesday in Germany with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of a series of meetings he held in Germany to discuss developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and other issues.
Dendias also met with Bundestag President Wolfgang Schaeuble, Vice President Claudia Roth, and European Affairs Committee Chairman Gunther Krichbaum, among others.
A working lunch with his counterpart Heiko Maas earlier was cancelled after the German official went into preventative quarantine after a member of a foreign mission tested positive to the virus.
Commenting on his visit, Dendias said in tweets that his visit was “the start of a greater information campaign, an effort to reach a clear common European understanding on provocations in the Southeastern Mediterranean.”
During his meetings with Bundestag members, he said in another tweet, “I stated what the Prime Minister has repeatedly said, that it is not possible for EU member states to sell arms – especially significant attack weapons like the German 214 submarines – to a country like Turkey that threatens EU member-states.”
