Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived at Élysée Palace in Paris shortly after 18:00 on Monday, for a conference organized by French President Emmanuel Macron on supporting Ukraine better.
Participants include heads of state and governments, mostly from European Union countries.
Given the clear escalation of Russian aggression lately in rhetoric and actions, French diplomatic sources said, the aim of the meeting is to review all means of effective help to Ukraine, and to convey a clear message to Moscow that Kiev’s allies are not ‘exhausted’, as the Russian propaganda implies. “They are determined to avert Russia’s prevalence in the war it started itself,” they said.
The French diplomats also noted that Russia is gradually becoming ‘a factor of global destabilization’ and that the European public should be fully informed of the underlying threats. The conference on Tuesday will focus on “what more we can do and how we can do it better,” they said, adding that the meeting would not result in specific announcements but confirm the joint strategy of all those who support Ukraine.
