With the reopening of the Greek embassy in Tripoli and today of the consulate in Benghazi, Greece is “declaring its presence” in the future of Libya and demonstrating its desire to take an active part in the country’s reconstruction and to develop bilateral relations.
This is the first Consulate General that will operate in this city of eastern Libya. Achilles Rakinas takes over as the new Consul General.
“Two strong arms will be formed to bridge any differences that existed in the past between the two states, but also to build new bonds of cooperation and common progress,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during the official reopening ceremony of the Greek embassy in Tripoli in early April.
