Passenger traffic at the Athens International Airport ‘took off’ in August 2024, registering a 10.5% increase compared to August 2023.
According to data from AIA, passenger traffic reached 3.64 million in the month, up 10.5% compared to August 2023 levels. In detail, both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded the corresponding figures for last year by 6.8% and 12.1%, respectively.
Overall, during the first eight months of the year, traffic at the airport reached 21.26 million passengers, up 13.9%. Passenger traffic, both domestic and international, showed an increase of 7.8% and 16.6%, respectively.
Flights
The number of flights operated out of Athens International Airport reached 180,594 in the 8-month period, recording an increase of 11.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2023. Both domestic and international flights rose, by 5.2% and 17.0%, respectively, compared to 2023.
