National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias on Thursday highlighted the important role that reservist forces will play in the “Agenda 2030” reform of the armed forces, which he described as the biggest ever made, while speaking in Litohoro, Pieria where he had attended the final phases of the military exercise “Eponymous Hero 2024”.
Addressing the reservists who participated in the exercise, he said that they had proven that the reserve forces are well able to perform their duties, highlighted their importance, while announcing that the sweeping reforms will also encompass the reservist forces, which must change in step with the times.
The minister was accompanied by Deputy Defence Minister Giannis Kefalogiannis, the chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis and the chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.
Dendias was briefed on the further training of the reservists during the exercise, which began on November 3 and will end on November 8, and watched a presentation on its objectives and execution.
In addition to senior military officers, others attending included Deputy Development Minister Anna Mani-Papadimitriou and MPs for Pieria Xenofon Baraliakos and Spyridon Koulkoudinas.
