Development Minister Kostas Skrekas welcomed a Eurostat flash estimate on Friday that forecast a reduction of the annual inflation rate in Greece – to 2.3% in May from 3.2% in April. These figures showed that the government measures and efforts were making a difference, Skrekas said, talking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA).
“Eurostat’s announcement regarding inflation in May 2024, which shows Greece having the 6th lowest inflation among the euro area countries, is a positive development. The government measures and our efforts are yielding results. We are not complacent. The battle to contain high prices continues,” Skrekas said. According to Eurostat’s flash estimate, Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.6% in May 2024, up from 2.4% in April.
