Government spokesperson Stelios Petsas categorically ruled out the possibility of the demilitarisation of the islands in an interview on Saturday to SKAI TV.
Petsas said that no Greek government would discuss the demilitarisation of the Greek islands adding that everything will be done to protect the country’s sovereignty.
Referring to Cyprus he said that Greece is in alignment with Cyprus in all issues adding that “trust and preparation is necessary” in order to be a contact between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan. “A discussion can’t be excluded if these two conditions exist” he explained.
On the pandemic he said that the government will support the income of all the stricken by the pandemic for as long as it is needed.
