When in Athens, Lavrov will meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, FM Nikos Dendias and main opposition party SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras.
According to Zakharova, talks will look into regional issues such as the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as in the Balkans and the Caucasus.
Beyond these issues, “ways to activate political dialogue, the deepening of bilateral economic cooperation and the development of cultural and humanitarian relations” will also be discussed, she added.
Zakharova noted that the signing of a memorandum planning the Russia-Greece Year of History in 2021 is also on the agenda.
