Greek diplomatic sources responded to statements by Turkish officials on the Cyprus issue by stating on Wednesday, “The perpetuation of the current status quo, of the occupation of a third of the island and the creation of two states, do not comprise solutions.”
They added, “We remain committed to the solution of the Cyprus issue in the framework of the resolutions of the UN Security Council that foresee the solution of a bizonal, bicommunal federation.”
In this context, they noted, “we support the efforts of the UN Secretary General and his personal envoy for the reunification of the island.”
