Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis had a meeting on Thursday in New Delhi with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Subsequently, expanded talks were held during which Gerapetritis and Jaishankar discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, with an emphasis on trade, shipping, and investment.
They referred to enhancing cooperation during Greece’s tenure on the Security Council. According to an MFA post on X, “ Greek FM highlighted the geostrategic importance of the IMEEC project & the role of Greece as a natural doorstep to Europe.”
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Greece and India, Gerapetritis and Jaishankar agreed to promote interpersonal diplomacy through education, culture, and tourism. For his part, Gerapetritis confirmed Greece’s intention to open two new consulates in Mumbai and Bangalore.
