Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will chair a high-level open discussion on maritime security being held on Tuesday in the context of the Greek presidency at the United Nations Security Council, in New York.
According to a briefing by his press office, Mitsotakis is expected to make an address during which he will highlight the threats to maritime security and freedom of navigation, as well as the importance of maritime security for international peace, stability and security and the role of Greece.
It is noted that not only the 15 Security Council member states, but all UN members interested in intervening have the possibility to intervene. According to the same sources, international bodies will also participate in the meeting. The meeting will open with remarks by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President of the Union of Greek Shipowners Melina Travlos, and other speakers.
