Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania who died in Athens on Saturday will lie in repose at the Athens Metropolis cathedral on Sunday for liturgy and public viewing, the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece said.
Specifically, the Holy Synod said in a statement that Metropolitan Hierotheos of Nafpaktos and Aghios Vlassios will lead the liturgy on Sunday morning. A memorial service will then be led by Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
After the services, the body of Anastasios will remain at the Greek Orthodox cathedral of Athens for public viewing until early on Monday, when it will be transported to Albania for burial.
In its statement, the Holy Synod also expressed Archbishop Hieronymos’ condolences of the Church of Greece and its followers to the sister church in Albania and its followers.
On hearing of Anastasios’ passing, Hieronymos held a memorial service at the chapel attached to the Archdiocese.
