A Thessaloniki court for offenders caught in the act on Friday delivered a guilty verdict in the case of a 31-year-old man caught photographing the city’s ‘Makedonia’ international airport on December 23, passing a sentence of 18 months imprisonment for espionage.
The prison sentence was converted to a fine of 10 euros per day, while he was also fined an additional 1,000 euros.
He was acquitted of a charge of entering a forbidden zone.
The 31-year-old Greek national with descent from Ukraine had been spotted by police taking photographs of airport facilities, despite warning signs banning photography in those areas.
