At the East Macedonia & Thrace Forum, the US Ambassador to Greece George Tsounis, announced that on April 4, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be at the Oval Office where he will meet with US President Joe Biden.
The President of the United States loves Greece and Greeks very much, and we always stand by you, he conveyed. Starting his speech at the Forum, he emphasized that US-Greece relations continue to historically be at their highest level, and the bilateral cooperation in Alexandroupolis is a key aspect of this relationship. He noted that the 5th US-Greece Strategic Dialogue held in Washington in February further developed this relationship and expressed the common will of the two countries to continue promoting their common goals for peace and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Western Balkans, and the Black Sea region based on shared democratic values.
Moreover, the American ambassador sent a message that Greece is NATO’s key ally, even speaking of an irreplaceable partner and ally that plays a critical role in defending the alliance’s southeastern flank. He made a separate reference to Northern Greece, highlighting the importance of the port of Alexandroupolis.
