The Foreign Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in a letter to his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias who congratulated him on India’s election as a non-permanent member of UN’s Security Council for the period 2021-2022, said that India considers Greece “a strategic partner” with which it has “a long friendship”, diplomatic sources said on Saturday.
In the same letter, the Indian Minister underlined that his country has set as a priority to the Security Council the holistic approach on issues of peace and security which will be based on the full respect to the international law, the dialogue and the mutual respect. Concluding, he said in his letter that he wishes, jointly with Greece, to promote the multilateralism in international diplomacy. According to the same sources, the latter issues are expected to be thoroughly examined during the next meetings between the two Ministers.
