BRUSSELS (ANA/E. Zarkadoula) — The European leaders express their concern over the increasing tension in the eastern Mediterranean and underline the need for de-escalation.
In parallel they express their total solidarity with Greece and Cyprus, EU spokesperson for foreign issues Nabila Massrali said on Monday when called to comment the extension of the illegal Turkish Navtex.
She referred to the conclusions of the video conference held on August 19 when the issue of the Turkish illegal actions was set by some state members.
Massrali also referred to previous EU summits’ conclusions that condemned Turkey noting that the European leaders will discuss again the issue at September’s EU summit and at the informal EU Foreign Ministers meeting on Thursday with all the possible alternatives remaining on the table.
