Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias participated in the virtual Ukraine Defense Contact Group hosted hosted by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Tuesday.
Also attending the group were NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the defense minister of Ukraine, as well as other high-level officials. Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, also attended.
During his intervention, Dendias underlined Greece’s consistent stance of support for Ukraine of its right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against Russia’s invasion, which is a blatant violation of International Law and undermines Europe’s peace, security, and stability.
In terms of defense aid, Greece will continue to stand by the Ukrainian people, Dendias noted, supporting the principles of International Law and territorial sovereignty, according to the UN Charter.
The Ukraine Defense Contact Group includes ministers of defense and chiefs of defense from nearly 50 nations supporting the defense of Ukraine by sending military equipment following the 2022 Russian invasion. This was the 18th meeting of the UDCG since the international group was formed in April 2022.
